birthday surprise

Laura really got me on my birthday Thursday. We were invited to Donja Alicia's house for lunch and to watch a soccer game on their TV. She was bring a cake mix to make over there. In the middle of the walk to their house, about 45 mins, she told me she wanted to ask about a shortcut to their house, at logical place. She went into a house to 'ask' and comes out 30 min later with a homemade birthday cake on a platter! She really got me with that surprise.
Anyway it was a nice birthday with some calls from Dad, Lance, Don Israel y Donja Mattie, and Marcela (Laura's parents and sister). I called Mom early, being her 60th birthday (for those that don't know I was born on her birthday) and wished her a warm happy birthday, and she to me. Missing that special day for my Mom was the biggest drawback of spending the summer down here.

Jaime (Laura's brother) came to visit with a friend Claire, from the Netherlands, that same afternoon. They are on their way down to Panama.
